MARCH WITh MOBILISE AT BIRMiNGHAM PRIDE!

Performers dressed in bright block colours marching at Birmingham Pride 2022.

This year MOBILISE will be marching (by foot or wheel) as one of the community groups in the Birmingham Pride Parade.

MOBILISE is a queer dance party for anyone who has felt like they don’t belong in existing LGBTQ+ spaces, we are a pro-fat, pro-trans, pro-disabled, pro-women, anti-racist, alcohol free, pro-fabulous clubbing environment.

After our performance leading the 2022 pride parade we want to provide a space for MOBILISE’s communities to take part in this year’s parade.

Please be aware this is NOT a performance, there are no rehearsals or meetings involved, and we won’t be providing outfits or anything like that. We are simply a group of party-goers who will be marching together as one of many community groups at Birmingham Pride 2023. We will have music with us played out loud from our Big Gay Disco Bike (see next slide) and will be dancing our way along the parade route, we may also bring some of our protest placards with us.

This invitation is open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ and is over the age of 18. We particularly want to make space for fat, trans, disabled, and global majority queers who have experienced marginalisation within the wider LGBTQ+ community to be able to celebrate themselves in the parade.

If you want to march with MOBILISE, please register via the form at the bottom of this page.

ACCESS INFO:

The MOBILISE parties are a space that centres accessibility, and have been created with disabled community members. Many of our artists and attendees identify as disabled.

We are aware that the pride parade can feel inaccessible for many people, carers or friends are welcome to join us if that makes it easier for you to participate. Our group will be next to the National Express bus for the entire parade, this is a wheelchair accessible vehicle that anyone can use during the parade if you need to rest or to travel the parade route by vehicle.

There will be some loud noises and loud music during the event, you’re welcome to wear noise reducing headphones if this helps.

If you have specific access questions please send us an email on hello@fattprojects.org and we’ll get back to you.
